TBI Baltimore / Medical Eye Bank of Maryland
TBI’s Baltimore headquarters serve as the hub for the organization’s administrative functions.
After years of failing vision due to an eye disease called keratoconus, Sonia received a life-changing cornea transplant. She now volunteers at a local donation organization, sharing the need for eye and tissue donation with others.
TBI Baltimore was founded in 1962 as the Medical Eye Bank of Maryland by a grant from The American Legion. TBI Baltimore / MEBMD still serves as the eye bank for the entire state of Maryland, offering ocular recovery, screening, and distribution services. In collaboration with the Living Legacy Foundation, Maryland’s Organ Procurement Organization, TBI Baltimore / MEBMD also promotes the need for eye and tissue donation in local communities.
